Why Does an FRP to Floor Cove Base Matter?
FRP stands for fiberglass reinforced plastic: sheets that cover the wall. At the bottom, the sheets stop at the floor, so an FRP to floor cove base covers that line.
Square corners can trap dirt and water, and that is where bacteria can grow. A rounded profile leaves fewer of those spots and makes them easier to wash out.

How Does the CoR Skirt Go on FRP Wall Panels?
CoRound installs on insulated panels, FRP-covered walls, tile, masonry and drywall. The CoR Skirt is screwed or riveted to the wall, or bonded with adhesive: installer’s choice.
Tools: tape measure, level, drill and a cutting tool. These instructions are general installation advice: the installer chooses the method that suits the job.
What Happens at the Floor?
To begin with, the CoR Skirt sanitary base covers the wall-floor juncture. In addition, flexible co-extruded lips press against the wall and the floor and follow small surface irregularities, closing the juncture.
The CoR Skirt has a radius that exceeds 3/8 inch.
Silicone is optional: not required for installation. However, for the CoR Skirt, in wet areas, installers can add a thin bead of neutral silicone to help keep water from getting behind the profile.
What Does “No Sealant Line Required Along the Wall” Mean?
Exposed sealant can need cleaning and, over time, redoing: each time that means a service call, material and labor. With CoRound, no sealant line is required along the wall.
Instead, the flexible lip minimizes gaps along the wall, with no sealant line required.
How Do Pre-Formed Corners Help an FRP to Floor Cove Base?
For example, with a metal base, each corner, column and door opening can mean a miter cut on site and silicone to close it, and the result depends on the installer’s hand. CoRound has pre-formed pieces for them: joints, 90° inside and outside corners, and end caps.
On the job, straight lengths meet at a joint piece, columns take pre-formed outside corners, and each run stops at an end cap at the door: no miter cuts to fill with silicone.
Rubber, Resin or Rigid PVC: Which FRP to Floor Cove Base?
The CoR Skirt is a rigid PVC sanitary base. Unlike a rubber base, it can be screwed or riveted to the wall, so it doesn’t have to depend on adhesive. More in our rubber cove base comparison.
By comparison, a resin cove is usually part of the floor job: the room is cleared and waits for the resin to cure. CoRound is a wall job: it installs on the finished floor, and the room can stay in use.

Can an FRP to Floor Cove Base Go In on a Retrofit?
Yes, as long as the FRP is in good shape. So, in a retrofit, check the sheets first: they should be sound, dry and flat against the wall behind them.
Otherwise, a new cove base can hide the problem for a while, but it does not fix it.
