Cut-to-size panels

The rounded profile removes the square corner where dirt builds up, and the smooth, non-porous surface is easy to clean. With an epoxy cove base, installers trowel the curve on site, and then the resin needs time to cure. On the job site, the CoRound™ system offers three things. No resin or cement to cure. No sealant line required along the wall. Pre-formed corners, no silicone-filled field cuts.

Why does curing time matter with an epoxy cove base? Because a resin cove is usually part of the floor job: the room is cleared and waits for the resin to cure. CoRound is a wall job: it installs on the finished floor, and the room can stay in use. Also, the panel crew can install the profiles: no separate flooring or welding crew to schedule.

What Does Curing Time Mean for an Epoxy Cove Base?

Curing time is the time the resin of an epoxy cove base needs to harden after the installer mixes and trowels it. Until then, the cove is not ready.

By comparison, installing CoRound is one pass along the wall: fasten the profile and snap in the corners. There is nothing to mix, trowel, weld or cure, and no sealant line is required along the wall.

Can the Room Stay in Use While CoRound Goes In?

In a room already in operation, CoRound can be installed on the finished floor: there is no floor to redo and nothing to cure.

That is why CoRound also works for renovations. For a full room, also read our walk-in cooler renovation guide.

How Does a Rigid PVC Cove Base Go In?

Tools: tape measure, level, drill and a cutting tool. On a panel job, for example, the sequence looks like this.

First, set the base track and the panels. Then fasten the CoR 4 Base supports and snap the CoR 4 onto them. After that, fasten the CoR Skirt to the base of the wall. Finally, press or snap the corner pieces, joints and end caps into place.

The CoR Skirt is screwed or riveted to the wall, or bonded with adhesive: installer’s choice. These instructions are general installation advice: the installer chooses the method that suits the job.

How Does the Curve Compare With an Epoxy Cove Base?

With an epoxy cove base, the installer shapes the curve by hand. In contrast, with CoRound, the curve comes from the factory, not from the installer’s hand: it is the same all the way around the room.

What Happens at the Floor?

At the floor, the CoR Skirt sanitary base covers the wall-floor juncture. In addition, flexible co-extruded lips press against the wall and the floor and follow small surface irregularities, closing the juncture.

What Happens When Forklifts Operate Near the Walls?

The CoR Curb is a heavy-duty PVC curb for the base of the wall. Where forklifts operate, the CoR Curb takes the place of the sanitary base at the wall-floor juncture. Protects the wall from forklift impacts. It protects the wall, not people: it is not a safety barrier.

Pouring a concrete curb inside a cold storage room can mean a special cold-weather mix, or shutting the room down until the concrete cures. The CoR Curb needs no pouring and no curing, and the room can stay in use.

What Does a Repair Look Like on an Epoxy Cove Base?

With a resin or tile cove, a repair can mean cutting out a section, redoing it and waiting for it to cure.

With CoRound, however, a damaged length can be replaced on its own: the rest of the run stays in place.

What Does “No Sealant Line Required Along the Wall” Mean?

On ribbed panels, a metal base usually needs a bead of sealant along the wall: a second step, and exposed sealant can turn dark and attract dirt over time, leaving a dark line between a white wall and a white base. With CoRound, no sealant line is required along the wall.

Moreover, on standard cold storage panels with mesa or wide-rib profiles, the flexible lip follows the ribs. As a result, the flexible lip minimizes gaps along the wall, with no sealant line required.

Why Choose a Rigid PVC Cove Base From Panelmart?

  • No resin or cement to cure: there is nothing to mix, trowel, weld or cure.
  • No sealant line required along the wall: one less step on site and, as a result, one less cost that can recur.
  • Pre-formed corners, no silicone-filled field cuts: the curve comes from the factory, not from the installer’s hand.
  • One system for the whole room: base track, sanitary base or heavy-duty curb, cove base for wall and ceiling junctions, pre-formed corners, end caps and corner guards, all made to fit together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need silicone when you install CoRound?

Silicone is optional: not required for installation. However, for the CoR Skirt, in wet areas, installers can add a thin bead of neutral silicone to help keep water from getting behind the profile.

Can CoRound go in a walk-in cooler?

Yes. Operating temperature: −4 °F to +140 °F. For colder applications, contact us.

Can I see the profiles before I order?

Yes. Free samples are available on request: email [email protected] and list the profiles you need.
